Re: Rice Rice baby
The amount of money than it's being touted we will accept for him reduces by the week. I hope if he wants to go that we get a good price that gives us a chance to get a couple of half decent players who commit to the club. I've not been that impressed this year but I think players are always tainted when they wont sign an extension.

Re: Rice Rice baby
Has been coasting most of the year, not a million miles off Upson for worst captain in what has been a terrible year for the club PL wise.

Was talking tonight and I don’t think we’ll get more than £60m for him if he indeed leaves.

Re: Rice Rice baby
I've never been his biggest fan, but think he has stepped up of late and played well and showed his worth. I've rarely seen a layer who covers so much ground in a game. It's a bit strange how he divides opinions so much though, some are now comparing him to that clown Upson, while some think he's genuine world class and would even improve Man City? Yes, all about opinion, but that is some gulf in said opinions.

I still say it's likely he ends up at Arsenal and replaces Partey in their side, circa 70 mil.

Re: Rice Rice baby
My mate who is pretty well known in west ham circles and knows a lot of people close to the club is absolutely adamant rice is staying and will sign an extension. I've personally got my doubts over it but he's got a hell of a lot right down the years . He got speaking to rob Newman at the Kidderminster cup game and was told Moyes was offered 10 players in January 22 and point blank refused them all . Alvarez at man city was one of them .

Marty - someone I know has said the same.. I wonder if it's the same person.. Lives abroad now

Re: Rice Rice baby
Worst captain we've had?!?!? haha do me a favour ffs

Be fantastic news if he stays, if he goes then £100m should be asking price. £80M minimum for me, that Enzo bloke went for £120m!

I can't see him going to Arsenal, think its Chelsea or City for him

Marty.. Makes my blood boil.
Why is this man still in charge ???

After the Gent game I had a feeling Rice would stay another year IF we won the Euro Sunday League.
Thing is Fiorentina look very good & we may not even beat AZ but I can dream

Re: Rice Rice baby
I think he’ll be off this summer. If he did stay he’d at a guess only sign for 2 years with a years option. And I’d also assume it’d be just to see if Chelsea improve if that’s his first choice and that he’s not keen on arsenal

Manuel 11:10 Thu May 4
Re: Rice Rice baby
Why are some assuming Rice has a choice of where he goes, like it's his call? Not convinced Poch would take him at Chelsea as he has untold talent at his disposal as it is to get a tune out of, may also depend if Mount stays or not. Guardiola has never really said anything about Rice and not convinced he would rate Rice highly enough for his side, plus they not be spending much with the ongoing FFP situation they are in.

Re: Rice Rice baby
So if he has decided he wants to go to Arsenal and they bid £60m does it matter if Chelsea offer £80m and he doesnt fancy them?
At the end of the day HE signs the contract so we cant force him to go anywhere
So he at least has SOME control in that he can say I am only signing for Arsenal

In an ideal world our loser owners and manager fuck off and he is enthused by the replacements
1% chance maybe

Manuel 11:25 Thu May 4
Re: Rice Rice baby
Roeder - Yea, it's not just black and white as some may think, many variables at play here - Who wants him, who does he want to play for, the fee, and the chance he stays on, etc.

The Ghost of Sven 11:38 Thu May 4
Re: Rice Rice baby
If the selling club is desperate the player has more control

Can remember when Leeds got relegated they had lined up a sale of Harry Kewell for maybe £7m
His agent came in and said thats not happening.
He is going to Liverpool .... the fee is £5m and £3m of that goes to ME

He will definitely go in the summer but hopefully we have multiple offers that are agreeable to him

Rossal 11:48 Thu May 4
Re: Rice Rice baby
Course he has a say, he is one of the most in demand players in his position in the world

I think he will want to go to either his boyhood club he supoprts in Chelsea or work under Pep at City and win everything.

Can't see him going to Arsenal, they are having a blinding season but time will tell if its a flash in the pan. Can't see them winning alot of trophies or challenging in the champs league next season so not sure Rice would see them as that attractive. If its his only option this summer, he might wait for Chelsea IMO

Steady 12:35 Thu May 4
Re: Rice Rice baby
I reckon he’s off this summer. Surely city would be the obvious choice (but doubt they’d be interested at the mo). Which leaves arsenal, I have my doubts they’ll be regular title challengers. Newcastle (again, do they want him) or Chelsea (but he may want to see how they do next season first).

Other than that, sign a new contract at the Hammers, be loved, adored, become a legend but probably win bugger all.

Re: Rice Rice baby
Seeing Philips come on for the last 60 seconds last night has surely got to get Declan thinking!

Far better to be a big fish at West Ham than risk being a bench warmer elsewhere.

He likes being captain, unlikely to do that at another club, straightaway at least, and why would he go to Chelsea with no European football next season?

He may well move on but whereas it was looking like a certainty a couple of months ago I can now see him staying, especially if we win the ECL and have EL next season.

Will he keep refusing a new contact though? Can't believe we've had him on on (only!) £60k pw all this time, or whatever it is. I wouldn't be surprised if he signs a new 2 year contact for much better money as that is how long we could keep him anyway.

Re: Rice Rice baby
With Rice being under contract the present situation is we can accept an offer from the highest bidder but if they do not suit Rice he stays put.

nychammer 2:36 Thu May 4
Re: Rice Rice baby
A club owned by a wide boy and managed by a dinosaur and all things remaining equal is most likely destined to battle relegation again next year is no place for a player of Rices talents. He wants to win something, Sullivan wants to cash in so he’s off

Re: Rice Rice baby
One thing Rice has that we don't is his ability to walk away.

And fuck me what a luxury.

We can't. I love West Ham like we all do. It's a way of life. It's like falling in love with a woman who's a fucking disaster and a drug-infused alcoholic. A complete shambles of a person but you love them dearly and would o anything for them.

My advice to Rice is use your luxury and walk away because we've been a fucking rollercoaster for as long as I've been going and it will never change in my lifetime, I doubt.

brick_lane_batty_boy 12:40 Fri May 5
Re: Rice Rice baby
Zero chance he stays - this season was the one where we really needed to step up and deliver - to even have half a chance of keeping him. We catastrophically failed to push on in the league to the point we could still go down.

He's given us enough of his career - time for him to move and win things elsewhere. I wish him well and look forward to the club spunking the money on the wrong players - The West Ham Way

Willtell 12:49 Fri May 5
Re: Rice Rice baby
I hope he goes to Real Madrid, Barcelona or PSG.

I'm going to hate seeing him at Man Utd or Arsenal. Manchester City not so much. I really don't like them so only ever watch them when we're playing them
